Industrial Poet: A Fusion of Industrial Style and Design Sentiment

Creating an Office Space Fused with Industrial Style and Leisurable Atmosphere

Under the excellent enterprise principles of management, designer Yu Yu Chu removes all partitions for re-planning in order to create an office space fused with industrial style, design sentiment, and a leisurable atmosphere for the employees based on a limited budget.

This spatial planning design project, named Industrial Poet, is the office design for a video game company located in Taipei City, Taiwan. The designer, Yu Yu Chu, aimed to create a unique office space that combines industrial style, design sentiment, and a leisurable atmosphere, all while working within a limited budget.

The office space spans 545 square meters and features a central corridor as the linear central axis for the interior planning. Starting from the entrance, the corridor leads to various areas such as a meeting room, reception area, supervisor office, product development room, and an open-style work area in the rear-end space.

The design stands out with its use of track lighting and iron piece lighting, along with exposed ceiling pipelines, creating a brand-new visual experience. The overall space incorporates stylish woodwork, reinforced clear glass, and iron pieces to fuse nature and industrial trend materials, resulting in a unique look for the office space.

The color scheme of the office revolves around black, white, and grey, with wooden surfaces used for storage and to enhance the interior art sense and quality. The absence of natural sunlight in the base led to the use of bright white color and wooden accents, making the space brighter and more comfortable.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating a leisurable and comfortable atmosphere. This was achieved through the warm texture of the wooden floor, the spatial façade structured by iron pieces and glass, and the decoration of spherical lighting. The entrance wall surface is inlaid with the enterprise logo, adding to the visual effect of the facade. The product development room at the back uses glass and iron piece separation to extend the visual axis and expand the wideness of the space outwards. Several rest areas are incorporated into the interior, creating an office field that differs from traditional office spaces.

The Industrial Poet office design project was completed in April 2018 and has been recognized for its excellence. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Industrial Poet design contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
