Chia Hao Tung's Slope Extension: A New Dimension in Residential Design

Iron A' Design Award Winning Project Revolutionizes Living Spaces

The Slope Extension project by Chia Hao Tung redefines the concept of residential space through innovative design, earning the prestigious Iron A' Design Award.

In the bustling urban landscape of New Taipei City, Taiwan, the Slope Extension project emerges as a beacon of innovative residential design. Chia Hao Tung, the mastermind behind this transformation, has meticulously reimagined a 59 square meter living space into an open, flexible layout that exudes modernity and sophistication. The project's unique approach to spatial design earned it the Iron A' Design Award in 2024, a testament to its excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.

The Slope Extension's design philosophy stems from the desire to overcome the constraints of a confined floor plan. By introducing sloped surfaces, diagonal lines, and beveled corners, Chia Hao Tung has created a visual depth that not only enhances functionality but also elevates aesthetics. The strategic use of white walls, structural columns, and embedded lighting adds warmth and coherence to the space, while the flexible furniture arrangement offers residents the liberty to tailor their living environment to their current needs and moods.

Chia Hao Tung's choice of materials such as wood, laminate, mineral paint, and brushed metal, coupled with innovative construction techniques, has brought the Slope Extension to life. The residence boasts an entrance, living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, semi-open study room, multifunctional area, and two bathrooms, all seamlessly integrated within its compact footprint.

The design's interactivity is evident in the thoughtful placement of flooring materials and the diagonal wood flooring that guides residents through the living space. The study room's glass partition maintains a visual connection with the kitchen while preserving privacy and light. The multi-functional area's sliding folding door adds another layer of versatility, catering to various activities from exercise to hosting overnight guests.

Chia Hao Tung's meticulous attention to detail is also apparent in the master bedroom, where a black belt integrates the TV into the olive-green wall, maintaining the room's sleek appearance. The innovative concealment of cable trunking and the strategic use of indirect lighting further enhance the ambiance, ensuring both functionality and style.

Despite the design challenges posed by structural elements such as low beams and wide structural beams, Chia Hao Tung's creative solutions have successfully negated any sense of oppression. The layering of slanted panels and the diffusion of soft light create a serene atmosphere conducive to relaxation and comfort.

The Slope Extension project stands as a shining example of Chia Hao Tung's vision and expertise, offering a glimpse into the future of residential design. With its award-winning status and the immerse Design Studio's intellectual property rights, this project is poised to inspire and influence the realm of interior design for years to come.
