Inside II: A Built-In Range Hood for Handleless Kitchen Cabinets

Current kitchen trends emphasize minimalism and functionality, reflecting urban lifestyle choices and architectural styles. In line with these trends, the Inside II range hood is integrated into the handleless kitchen cabinets, providing a purely functional and simple solution that seamlessly blends into the kitchen environment. The design elements of Inside II focus on enhancing ease-of-use and embodying the philosophy of simplicity.

One of the unique properties of Inside II is the defined and protected area for the touch control panel. Placed on an angled front surface, the control panel ensures a comfortable user experience. The sleek and minimalist design of the range hood further adds to its strengths, making it an ideal choice for modern kitchens.

The realization of Inside II involves the use of high-quality materials. The main body, made of brushed stainless steel, houses an A-class energy motor. The control panel is covered with light-diffusing PC material, while the frosted glass cover is made of tempered glass. Additionally, the range hood can be customized with a powder coating finish, including matte black, to meet specific design requirements.

With dimensions of 598mm width and a height ranging from 525mm to 1198mm, Inside II offers flexibility in installation. It is available in different sizes, including 898mm and 1198mm, to accommodate various kitchen layouts.

The user interaction with Inside II is effortless and intuitive. The touch buttons on the angled surface of the range hood allow users to control it without opening the cabinet lid. The well-adjusted space between the control unit and the cabinet lid ensures comfortable use. The frosted glass lid can be adjusted freely to protect the cabinet from cooking vapors. The range hood also features aluminum and carbon filters, enhancing flexibility in replacement and rearrangement. With high-efficiency motors, Inside II provides a 630m3 air extraction capacity, reducing energy losses and ensuring a quieter operation.

The Inside II project began in June 2018 in Istanbul and was completed in September 2018 in Merzifon. It was exhibited at IMM Cologne in January 2019, showcasing its innovative design and functionality.

The design process for Inside II involved extensive research on kitchen trends and urban lifestyle changes. User journey mapping and benchmarking of kitchen manufacturers provided valuable insights for the design team. The resulting design elements, such as the space between the angled surface and the cabinet lid, the position of the control panel, and the frosted glass lid, address functional challenges commonly faced with handleless kitchen cabinets. The user-focused analysis of kitchen trends shaped the product's anatomy and elements, prioritizing ease-of-use.

One of the main challenges during the design process was cost-effectiveness. To overcome this challenge, the R&D and Industrial Design departments collaborated closely, resulting in a purely functional and cost-effective solution for the Inside II built-in range hood.

The Inside II range hood, designed by the Silverline Design Team, has been recognized for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Home Appliances Design category in 2019. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
