Vertical Ock Furnitures: A Blend of Nature and Modern Design

The strength of the Vertical Ock series lies in its structural design and choice of materials. The furniture pieces are ingeniously crafted using a combination of wood and metal, resulting in a fresh and contemporary look. The structure of the furniture adopts a longitudinal extension and transverse insertion technique, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and structural integrity. The use of tough oak wood, metal, and subtle fabric accents adds depth and layers to the overall visual experience.

Creating the Vertical Ock furniture involves a meticulous process of numerical control and manual processing. The solid wood parts are carefully interspersed and assembled, resulting in a stable and durable final product. The furniture collection includes a storage cabinet measuring 2500mm*600mm*1920mm, a shelf measuring 670mm*550mm*1000mm, and a seat measuring 800mm*410mm*680mm.

The Vertical Ock series consists of three main pieces: a chair, a shelf, and a locker. The shelf provides ample space for storing sundries, while the locker is designed to hold main items and reading materials. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to enhance functionality and meet the needs of modern lifestyles.

The Vertical Ock project started in Shenyang in September 2018 and was completed in January 2019. It was exhibited at the Art Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June 2019, showcasing its unique design and craftsmanship. The furniture collection received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities.

Wei Jingye, Sun Kezhao, and Wei Xinmiao, along with their team members Du Dao, Zhang Sicong, Zang Jiashuai, and Whang Ruilin, overcame various challenges during the design process. Their goal was to create furniture that reflects the natural freshness and elegance while ensuring structural rationality and overall comfort.
