Revolutionizing Wine Packaging: Villa Degli Olma Pinot Grigio

Valerii Sumilov's Innovative Design Approach Wins Prestigious A' Packaging Design Award

Valerii Sumilov's rebranding of Villa Degli Olma Pinot Grigio wine label has been recognized for its innovative design and branding solutions, earning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2019. This article delves into the unique design properties, inspiration, and technical specifications that make this design stand out.

Valerii Sumilov's primary task was to create an image that would reflect the light and elegant feel of the product while identifying the drink’s region of origin. The unique Italian spirit contained within every drop of this wine was embodied in the packaging design. This was achieved through a number of innovative solutions in the field of branding and design, including the rebranding of an existing product and the development of a label with complex design features.

The production of this label involved the application of advanced printing techniques and high-quality art paper. The use of tactile varnish in the vine’s name and the author’s signature ensures the quality of the product. The label's dimensions are 110mm for 140mm, making it a complex, innovative shape. The surface of the label is covered with a super-matte coating, which conveys the effect of a rubberized, velour surface, very pleasant to touch. On such a surface, the effects of embossing and selective tactile polish are very bright and beautiful.

The design process began in June 2018, in Moscow, Russia. Villa Degli Olma Pinot Grigio wines are now represented in the HoReCa of Moscow, in the wineries of the capital. The Agency carried out extensive research work to prepare for the task of creating brand concepts and the subsequent refinement of the final design version. Different opinions were taken into account and the potential attractiveness and appeal of the product were investigated when using different styles of visual design.

The design presents a modern and fresh feel while confirming the traditions of Italian wine packaging. The strict and minimalistic central piece serves as a foundation for the more expressive elements located in the lower and upper part of the label respectively. The lower piece also carries stylized illustrations of grapevines, which form a pattern that is repeated in the bottle cap design. The production process for the label involves additional printing and post-printing techniques that emphasize certain elements and make the overall composition more expressive.

The design has been recognized for its innovative approach, earning the Silver A' Packaging Design Award in 2019. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

In conclusion, Valerii Sumilov's innovative design approach to the Villa Degli Olma Pinot Grigio wine label has revolutionized wine packaging, creating a product that not only looks good but also communicates the unique Italian spirit of the wine. This design stands as a testament to the power of innovative thinking and technical expertise in the field of design and branding.
