IVC Beyond Flooring Booth: A Sustainable Design RevolutionWeWantMore's Innovative Exhibition Booth Wins Silver A' Design Award
In a world increasingly conscious of sustainability, WeWantMore's design for the IVC Beyond Flooring booth stands out. The design, which upcycles cardboard mother rolls from the production of vinyl flooring, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award.
Belgian design studio WeWantMore found inspiration for the IVC Beyond Flooring booth during a visit to the vinyl flooring plant of IVC. The designers noticed that the base materials for Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT), carpet tiles, and heterogeneous vinyl floors were delivered on large cardboard rolls, known as mother rolls. They saw an opportunity to upcycle these rolls, forming the heart of their booth and embodying IVC's new vision of sustainability and thinking beyond flooring.
The booth was designed to launch IVC's rebranding and its new vision, "Beyond Flooring". The upcycled mother rolls were used as an architectural element in the booth and can be reused in production after the trade show. This innovative approach to design and sustainability sets the booth apart from others, demonstrating the unique properties of the design.
On the floor of the booth, a piece of art designed by Glenn Sestig showcased the endless possibilities of IVC's collections. The booth was split into a DIY moodboarding area, an exploring area, and a guided visit area, offering high levels of interaction with visitors.
The booth, which spans 230 square meters, was showcased at Bau Munich from January 14 to 19, 2019. The design process involved inspirational research through discussions and interviews with the owner of IVC and a visit to the vinyl flooring plant. One of the challenges the designers faced was showcasing IVC's extensive collection while maintaining a clear message of thinking beyond flooring.
The IVC Beyond Flooring booth by WeWantMore is a testament to the potential of sustainable design. The booth's design not only reconnected people with the core of IVC but also demonstrated the possibilities of upcycling and sustainable design. This innovative approach to design earned the booth the Silver A' Design Award in 2019, a prestigious accolade awarded to designs that display outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill.
