Creating a Positive, Captivating Identity for a Movement with Controversial Topics

Leonardo Bianchi, an acclaimed designer, has crafted an innovative corporate identity for the Global Peace Film Festival 2017. His design, which won the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019, is a testament to his ability to create a positive and captivating identity for a movement that addresses controversial topics such as war, hunger, and social discrimination.

Bianchi's design inspiration came from the festival's mission to use the power of the moving image to promote peace on earth. The festival aims to connect expression - artistic, political, social, and personal - to positive, respectful vehicles for action and change. Five core values - Unity, Love, Freedom, Peace, and Culture - were identified for the identity. These values guided the design process, ensuring consistent communication.

The unique properties of Bianchi's design lie in its use of bright colors and multicultural images. These elements bring emotion and diversity to a topic that often has a negative background. The colors add energy and a lightheartedness, taking the design away from its seriousness. This approach helped to build a consistent identity across all design applications, including the logo, typography, and collateral pieces.

Designing the corporate identity for the Global Peace Film Festival presented several challenges. The main challenge was to generate a positive and captivating identity for a movement that covers such controversial topics. Despite these challenges, Bianchi and his team, including Shanon Larimer, were able to create a design that not only met these challenges but also exceeded expectations.

The design was exhibited in Orlando, FL in September 2017. The designer highlighted the festival's creative with bright colors to bring emotion up and captivate the target audience. Art was the starting point, using multicultural images with a motif of a global union, carefully treated with hand-made artistic effects. This approach helped to build a consistent identity for all design applications, such as Advertising, Stationary, and collateral pieces.

The design's success is evident in its recognition. It was awarded Silver in the A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
