Challenging the Perception: A Unique Poster Design by Chao Yang and Wanyun Cai

Breaking Through the Plane, Redefining Poster Design

As visual communication designers, Chao Yang and Wanyun Cai have always sought to push the boundaries of traditional design. Their latest creation, a mesmerizing poster design, challenges the perception of two-dimensional art and introduces a new dimension of visual communication.

With their poster design, Yang and Cai aim to break through the limitations of the plane and subvert traditional thinking. The inspiration for this project came from their desire to challenge the cognition of viewers and create a visual experience that goes beyond the flat surface.

What sets this poster design apart is its unique use of visual effects and the seamless integration of technology and emotion. The designers have skillfully combined planar text with three-dimensional graphics, resulting in a captivating image that exudes a strong sense of space.

The realization of this design involved the use of advanced software such as Photoshop and C 4D. Through meticulous digital manipulation, Yang and Cai were able to bring their vision to life, creating a poster that defies conventional design norms.

Measuring 700 mm x 1000 mm, this poster is a testament to the designers' technical prowess and creative ingenuity. It serves as a visual representation of their exploration of the relationship between the plane and space in graphic design.

Working alongside a talented team, including design director Chao Yang, illustrator Yichen Zhu, and designers Wanyun Cai and Luyuan Feng, the project took shape over a span of four months in Hangzhou.

The design process was not without its challenges. The most difficult aspect was the expression of the special visual effects that make this poster truly unique. Additionally, coordinating the combination of planar characters and three-dimensional graphics required careful attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.

This exploratory poster design is a fusion of hand-drawn and computer technology. The use of blue represents technology, while the gray pencil lines symbolize emotional transmission. Through this integration, Yang and Cai convey their thoughts and exploration of graphic design.

The exceptional quality of this design has not gone unnoticed. In 2019, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious accolade recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and contribute to improving the quality of life.

Chao Yang and Wanyun Cai's poster design challenges the perception of traditional art and introduces a new dimension of visual communication. With its unique visual effects and seamless integration of technology and emotion, this design pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the world of graphic design.
