Ponto: A Simple and Elegant Armchair by Roberta Banqueri

A Versatile and Contemporary Addition to Any Space

The Ponto armchair, designed by Roberta Banqueri, is a testament to simplicity and elegance. With its minimalist language and versatile design, this armchair is the perfect addition to any space or decor. Inspired by Brazilian modernism, the Ponto armchair combines wood turned elements with leather upholstery to create a contemporary and universal aesthetic.

The Ponto armchair stands out with its unique properties and strengths. The piece features a simple language, executed with few elements. A single elongated line and curves structure the seat, arms, and backrest, creating a cohesive and visually appealing design. The fitting of turned parts allows for the mixing of different types and colors of wood, resulting in a truly unique effect. The upholstered seat and backrest offer both comfort and style, with their anatomical and organic form.

What sets the Ponto armchair apart is its realization technology. The execution of this design is a combination of advanced technology and handcrafted processes. The external structure is made of solid wood turned, while the armrests have been reinforced with a metal tubular core for added strength. The seat is supported by a metallic X-shaped tubular structure, ensuring stability and durability. The arms were initially crafted by hand and later executed by a machining center, which allowed for precise and consistent results.

With dimensions of 700mm x 700mm x 740mm, the Ponto armchair offers a comfortable seating experience without compromising on style. Its compact size makes it suitable for various spaces, whether it's a living room, office, or lounge area. Additionally, the Ponto line also includes a chair and a stool, providing a complete seating solution for any need.

The Ponto armchair is the result of extensive research and creative problem-solving. The challenge was to create a design that appeared simple yet stood out from existing products in the market. The use of Tauari wood, known for its lightness and dyeing capabilities, allowed for a lightweight yet sturdy construction. The armrests, initially prone to breakage, were reinforced with a metal core to ensure they could withstand constant use.

The Ponto armchair was exhibited at the 35 Paralela Fair in São Paulo, Brazil, after a project duration of seven months, from July 2018 to February 2019. Its unique design and attention to detail have garnered recognition, including the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and contribute to improving the quality of life.

Roberta Banqueri, the designer behind the Ponto armchair, has successfully created a piece that combines simplicity, elegance, and functionality. With its timeless design and versatile nature, the Ponto armchair is a must-have for those seeking a contemporary and sophisticated seating solution.
