Warm White: A Tropical Minimalist Private Residence

A Beautiful Blend of White and Wood

The Warm White private residence, designed by Prashant Chauhan, seamlessly combines minimal design sensibilities with a tropical theme. The inspiration for this stunning home came from a tropical painting owned by the clients, which became the focal point of the design.

The apartment boasts a predominant white base color palette, with splashes of color strategically placed throughout. The living room features a crisp open layout, enhanced by flippable mirror fins that create an interesting visual effect while providing privacy to the dining area. A backing counter behind the dining area seamlessly integrates the oven within the storage unit. The seating area is adorned with a French door and Georgian bars, offering a glimpse of the balcony space. The botanical painting ties together the choice of upholstery on the accent cushions and dining chairs. Additionally, Chinar leaves are inlaid into the white floor, paying homage to the husband's origins in Kashmir.

The balcony seamlessly merges the white flooring in the living area with cement flooring through a hexagonal grid. The ceiling in the balcony is made of faux wood, with concealed starry lights that create a mesmerizing starry sky effect at night. The addition of plants and bougainvillea adds life to the barbecue counter, which can be tucked away when not in use.

Technical specifications of the Warm White private residence include copper leaf inlay into white marble, patterned inlay in the bathroom walls, and a total area of approximately 180 square meters.

Overcoming the challenge of managing the differing requirements and wishlists of the husband and wife, Prashant Chauhan successfully married their preferences to create this beautiful apartment. The result is a harmonious blend of white and wood, reflecting both the wife's desire for a white aesthetic and the husband's preference for a wooden look.

The Warm White private residence was completed in 8 months and is located in the western suburbs of Mumbai, India. The design incorporates elements inspired by the husband's Kashmiri heritage, such as the inlaid copper leaves resembling Chinar leaves on white snow. The guest bedroom also draws inspiration from the hilly regions of Kashmir, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

This exceptional design by Prashant Chauhan has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Warm White private residence exemplifies these qualities, contributing to an improved quality of life and making the world a better place.
