PosterLad: A Fusion of Vintage and Modern Artistry

Vratislav Pecka's Award-Winning Poster Design Project

Pecka's inspiration stems from everything a bit old and dated, such as old VHS cases, 90s graphics, clothes, and music from that era. There is also a noticeable influence of Bauhaus in the PosterLad project. This combination of vintage and modern elements sets his work apart from other designers, offering a unique aesthetic that has resonated with a broad audience.

The PosterLad project started as a creative outlet for Pecka, allowing him to design a new, unique poster almost every day. His obsessive attention to detail and constant push for innovation have led to the project's evolution and popularity on social media. The posters are designed to catch the viewer's eye with their look and feel, offering a sense of harmony derived from Pecka's obsession with balance and geometry.

All posters are created mainly in Adobe Indesign on a computer, with occasional use of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They are printed on high-quality 270g carton paper in size B1 (707x1000mm), and sometimes on canvas for special occasions. The designs are always prepared in CMYK colours and 300dpi resolution to achieve the finest colour detail and accuracy.

Poster design is making a comeback as a new form of art, not necessarily including any form of information on it. This was the initial thought behind the project. The challenge of creating a new poster almost every day has pushed Pecka to constantly find new inspiration and improve his artistry. This commitment to constant evolution and improvement is a key factor in the project's success.

Since its inception in October 2016, the PosterLad project has been exhibited in the Prague Congress Centre since October 2018. In 2019, it was awarded Silver in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
