Simplicity: A Private Gallery Designed by Tao Chu

A Modern Blend of Metal and Nature

The gallery is located at an apartment, area at 120 m2, belonging to a sculpture artist.

The Simplicity private gallery, designed by Tao Chu, is a stunning fusion of modernity and nature. Inspired by the fashion sense of a sculpture artist, this unique space showcases the extensibility of metal while maintaining the integrity of the artist's sculptures.

Spanning an area of 120 m2, the gallery is situated within an apartment, providing an intimate and exclusive setting for special guests. The design concept revolves around showcasing modernity through the use of metallic textures, while seamlessly incorporating elements of nature. The result is a space that exudes sophistication and elegance, without compromising the distinctive shape of the sculptures.

The main materials used in the realization of this design are marble and wood. However, what sets this gallery apart is the special paint used, which is a blend of metal and copper. This unique combination adds a touch of luxury and enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

One of the standout features of the Simplicity gallery is the Y Pillar, which has been treated with a special technique. The exterior material is a mixture of two types of copper, which undergo a chemical reaction to transform into a silver-colored pure iron-looking copper. This innovative approach adds a captivating element to the design and showcases the designer's creativity and attention to detail.

Functionally, the gallery serves as a private space for the owner to invite special guests. The layout has been carefully planned to ensure that the sculptures can be viewed sequentially, allowing guests to appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship behind each piece.

The Simplicity gallery project commenced in January 2019 in Taipei and was completed in May 2019. Throughout the process, the designer faced the challenge of effectively communicating with the client, who is also an artist with his own ideas. However, through collaboration and a shared vision, Tao Chu successfully brought the client's vision to life.

The Simplicity private gallery, with its seamless blend of metal and nature, stands as a testament to the designer's creativity and ability to create spaces that are both visually striking and functional. It is a true masterpiece that showcases the beauty and versatility of contemporary design.
