Blink addresses the current challenges faced by patients in the healthcare system, such as long lines and wait times for medical tests. With Blink, users can now perform vital tests in a simple and unobtrusive manner, saving time, energy, and money.
What sets Blink apart from other home medical devices is its user-friendly interface and comprehensive functionality. The device guides users through the process of collecting data and reporting it to their physician. This not only empowers individuals to take control of their own health but also enhances the doctor-patient relationship by enabling physicians to provide personalized feedback.
By empowering self-care, Blink encourages users to be more proactive with their health. The device measures vital signs such as blood pressure and body temperature, and can also be used to perform blood, urine, and saliva tests. With its compact design and easy-to-use interface, multiple family members can utilize the same device, making it a versatile and convenient tool for home healthcare.
Blink utilizes cutting-edge technologies to ensure accurate and reliable results. The device incorporates Viscoelastic Focusing (VEF) for before and after comparisons, spot infrared thermometer for body temperature measurement, and oral fluid urinalysis testing for comprehensive health analysis.
Measuring at 200 mm x 130 mm x 160 mm, Blink is designed to be compact and portable, fitting seamlessly into any home environment. The project, which started in February 2016 in Ankara, was completed in June 2016 and showcased at the Science at Home Exhibition in Ankara and the Turkey Design Week Exhibition in Istanbul.
Belfug Sener's design process for Blink involved extensive research and collaboration with healthcare professionals. The aim was to empower users to be proactive about their health and improve communication between patients and physicians. Visits to biochemical labs and discussions with physicians and biochemists helped shape the design and ensure its effectiveness.
One of the main challenges in designing Blink was organizing its core elements in the most accessible and compact way. Hygiene, guidance, and communication were key considerations, as the device needed to be suitable for home use and provide clear instructions to users at each stage of testing.
With an aging population and increasing strain on healthcare services, Blink offers a solution that saves time, money, and energy. By enabling individuals to monitor their own health and providing valuable data to physicians, Blink contributes to the improvement of healthcare quality and promotes a proactive approach to personal well-being.
Blink has been recognized for its exceptional design and functionality, receiving the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Blink's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics make it a valuable addition to the world of home medical devices.
