The story of Orfeo and Euridice is set in a remote future on Earth. Euridice, a researcher in advanced weapons development, finds herself at the center of events surrounding the introduction of nanotechnology in combat systems. This fusion of ancient mythology and Sci-Fi designs gives the game a unique and captivating aesthetic. The good characters are characterized by sleek and futuristic suits, while the antagonists take on monstrous and deformed forms.
The entire project was realized using Adobe Photoshop. Paolo Iarossi meticulously crafted each character, starting with thumbnail sketches and silhouettes. The goal was not only to create visually appealing designs but also to convey the hidden ideas and emotions behind each character. The designs were carefully planned to be impactful and functional for animation during the modeling phase.
Technical specifications for the design include a resolution of 1920x1080 and a DPI of 600. Paolo Iarossi's attention to detail and focus on functionality ensured that every component of the design could seamlessly translate into 3D models and animations.
The interaction with the design occurs through visual content and the eventual interaction with the 3D models. The end user will be able to immerse themselves in the game's world, exploring the intricacies of the characters and environments created by Paolo Iarossi.
The Orfeo and Euridice project began in October 2017 and concluded in June 2018. While it is currently a personal project, Paolo Iarossi hopes to bring it to life in the future. The design was born out of a master class in concept art and showcases the designer's passion for mythology and Sci-Fi.
The research behind the design focused on giving a new aesthetic touch to a mythological story. Paolo Iarossi gathered inspiration from various sources, including photographic references and works by other artists. The goal was to create a design that combines the old with something new, resulting in a fresh and captivating aesthetic.
Overcoming creative and technical challenges was an integral part of the design process. Paolo Iarossi pushed the boundaries of his own limitations to bring something new to the table. The challenge also lay in revitalizing the mythological context and ensuring that the design stayed true to the essence of the story.
The design of Orfeo and Euridice is a testament to Paolo Iarossi's creativity and skill. The contrasting styles between the factions, with clean and defined forms for the humans and bionic and deformed designs for the enemies, add depth and visual interest to the game.
This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award celebrates designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life. Orfeo and Euridice stands out for its innovative approach to merging art, science, design, and technology, making it a truly remarkable creation.
