Yingjiagong Baijiu: A Harmony of Tradition and Innovation

Wen Liu and Xianwen Wu's Award-Winning Design Celebrates Chinese Culture and Ecology

In the world of beverage design, Wen Liu and Xianwen Wu have crafted a unique masterpiece. Their design for Yingjiagong Baijiu, a traditional Chinese spirit, is a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition, ecology, and modern design principles. This article delves into the inspiration, unique properties, and realization of this award-winning design.

Yingjiagong Baijiu's design draws its inspiration from the Dabie Mountain, the home of the distillery. The mountainous terrain of Huoshan County, with its pristine, pollution-free springs, offers an ideal environment for producing fine Baijiu. The designers have artfully incorporated the mountain shape into the design, blending it with traditional Chinese ink painting and line expression. The result is a strong, charming image that reflects the sincere hospitality of the Chinese people and their traditional Baijiu culture.

The design's unique properties lie in its celebration of the ecological and natural fermentation environment of Baijiu. The distillery's location in Huoshan County, an international ecological county belt at 30 degrees north latitude, provides several natural advantages. These include ecological production area, water, raw material, fermentation, and recycling. The design aims to promote these ecological aspects, making it stand out from other beverage designs.

Realization of the design involved the use of cost-effective and recyclable materials. The outer box is made of plastic, while the bottle and cap are crafted from ceramic with a spray pint. The technical specifications of the design include an outside packaging box size of 136mm in length, 116mm in width, and 290mm in height.

The design's interaction with its environment is another key aspect. The project promotes the natural Baijiu fermentation environment of the Yingjiagong distillery, located in the mountainous area of Dabie Mountain. The design combines traditional Chinese ink painting and line expressions to communicate and promote this concept effectively.

The project, which started in November 2018 in Shenzhen and finished in March 2019, faced several challenges. Initially, the designers struggled to balance tradition and modernity in the design style. However, through continuous improvement in design expression and cost control, they achieved a successful final result. The design was awarded Silver in A' Packaging Design Award in 2020, a testament to its outstanding creativity and innovation.

In conclusion, the Yingjiagong Baijiu design by Wen Liu and Xianwen Wu is a remarkable blend of tradition, ecology, and modern design principles. It not only celebrates the Chinese Baijiu culture but also highlights the importance of ecological production. This design sets a new standard in the beverage design industry, proving that tradition and innovation can coexist harmoniously.
