Hill Wind: A Modern Architectural Marvel

Unveiling Huafang Wang's Award-Winning Resort Design

In the heart of Anji County, Huzhou City, lies a stunning architectural masterpiece - the Hill Wind. This resort hotel, designed by Huafang Wang, is a testament to the harmonious fusion of modern design and local culture. The design, which won the Platinum A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2020, is a striking example of how architecture can reflect and enhance its natural surroundings.

Huafang Wang's inspiration for the Hill Wind was drawn from the regional characteristics of Anji County, known for its clean air, water, and soil. The design process involved a dialogue with the space, interpreting visual, tactile, and spiritual resonance to reproduce the humanistic landscape pattern of the area. The result is a design that embodies the tranquility of the forest and the depth of the mountain.

The Hill Wind stands out for its unique external form, which adopts the thinking mode of modern architecture. Wang extracted the image of geometric clouds from the origami concept and extended the irregular shapes. The design is complemented by the same type of white film used in the internationally renowned Burj Al Arab, integrating the two elements through structural changes to create a visually striking building.

The realization of the Hill Wind was a meticulous process. The fluctuating ceiling was formed and stitched by craftsmen, and the abundant bamboo and wood in Anji were used as construction materials. The building covers a total of 3500 square meters, and its "flowing" interior design surprises visitors upon entering.

The design also incorporates a deep sense of space aesthetics. The narrow and long passage at the entrance, combined with the shape of the nest and uneven stone, creates a rough and steady visual effect. This contrast between the quiet interior and the noisy exterior forms a pulling feeling in space, attracting customers.

The Hill Wind project started in March 2017 and was completed in April 2019. One of the challenges faced during the design process was the integration of natural raw materials into the architectural framework. The materials, warm and soft, harmoniously dissolve into the infinite greenness, echoing the surrounding natural landscape and making the building and nature more closely connected.

In conclusion, the Hill Wind is a remarkable example of modern architecture that respects and enhances its natural surroundings. Huafang Wang's design, which won the Platinum A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2020, is a testament to the power of design to create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also deeply connected to their environment. The Hill Wind is a reminder that good design must be related to nature, a principle that is at the core of Wang's design philosophy.
