45 Degree: A Unique and Sophisticated Interior Design

Creating a Wide and Bright Fan-Shaped Space

The 45 Degree design by Yi-Lun Hsu is a stunning interior design project that seamlessly connects the living room, dining room, and kitchen to create a wide and bright fan-shaped space. This innovative design is located in the downtown area of Hsinchu City, Taiwan, and stands out for its unique layout and exceptional use of natural light.

The most valuable advantage of the 45 Degree design is the abundance of natural light. The building configuration, resembling butterfly wings, allows three sides of the space to be bathed in sunlight. This not only enhances the overall brightness of the interior but also creates a sense of openness and spaciousness.

The interior layout of the 45 Degree design is not foursquare, presenting a 45-degree angle of intersection between the public and private areas. This unconventional layout adds a touch of dynamism and uniqueness to the space. The sector terrace, located near the living room window, further enriches the landscape effect in the public areas, creating a harmonious blend of indoor and outdoor elements.

Responding to the technical background of the owner, the main tone of the design is white and grey, creating a sleek and modern aesthetic. Warm wood furniture is strategically placed to add warmth and texture to the space. The entrance and living room are separated by a white marble shoe cabinet, maintaining visual penetration while providing a sense of privacy.

The 45 Degree design showcases meticulous attention to detail. The entrance floor features black, white, and gray stone hexagonal tiles, creating a playful yet sophisticated atmosphere. The gray stone tiles on the main wall of the living room highlight the high ceiling of the public space, while the use of venetian blinds allows light and shadow to cleverly blend into the peaceful ambiance of the living room. A mirror cleverly covers the 45-degree beam above the sofa, reducing its visual impact and creating a sense of spaciousness.

The kitchen, being the focal point of the family's life, underwent significant adjustments. The irregular and inefficient layout of the old kitchen was redesigned to create a more functional and user-friendly space. The kitchen area was reduced to accommodate the enlargement of the daughter's room. The addition of electrical cabinets and counters on the walls maximizes storage space, while a stylish arc-shaped kitchen island serves as a small dining table, promoting interaction and convenience.

Overcoming the challenges posed by "feng shui" considerations, the 45 Degree design incorporates a teak wall at the entrance to the master bedroom, creating a sense of tranquility and privacy. The refreshing white tone of the master bedroom contrasts with the gray tones of the public space, providing a soft and serene sleep environment. The original windows of the master bedroom and dressing room, previously blocked by cabinets, were restored during the renovation, allowing the afternoon sun to illuminate the room and providing a picturesque view of the 45-degree landscape.

The 45 Degree design by Yi-Lun Hsu is a testament to the designer's creativity and expertise in creating unique and sophisticated living spaces. With its innovative layout, emphasis on natural light, and meticulous attention to detail, this interior design project truly stands out. It is a perfect blend of functionality, aesthetics, and comfort, creating a harmonious and inspiring living environment.
