Panntea Klang: A Revolutionary Retail Shop Design

Reimagining Retail with an Otherworldly Charm

In order to stand out from its competition, Panntea Klang has introduced a bold and imaginative design concept that prioritizes the customer experience. Every corner of this retail shop is tied together with breathtaking aesthetics that are ahead of its time. The design features a range of revolutionary elements, including the Galaxy Annulus, Floating Counters, Virtual and Reality, Reversal and Illusions, and the Time Tunnel, all of which contribute to a spellbinding journey for patrons.

The design of Panntea Klang incorporates arch-framed windows that allow natural light to flood the space, creating a mysterious atmosphere that is both laid-back and edgy. The interior scheme, with its cool dark-colored palette, is complemented by steel elements that provide soothing illuminations. The use of brick, wood, and cement surfaces adds a rustic vibe to the design, while refined touches from marble, leather, and fabric create a contrast against the raw elements. Dramatic neon lights add a final touch of drama to the overall ambiance.

Covering an area of 1,800 square feet, Panntea Klang is the result of joining two shop units. The layout features a walkway designed as a time tunnel, creating the illusion of walking through time and space. This unique design element adds to the overall immersive experience for patrons.

Greeted by an elegant storefront featuring full-length glass panels, patrons are immediately drawn to the counter area, which is adorned with concrete slabs and abstract golden boxes. The centerpiece of the main social space is a metal-framed galaxy time clock with twinkle LED lights, creating a timeless yet mysterious aesthetic. Other design highlights include a floating pink unicorn, crystal chandeliers, and decorative objects suspended in the air above the long table seating area. A sofa seating area provides a cozy space for patrons, while a fireplace book rack, side tables, pendant lamps, and an upside-down rug create an illusion of reversal at another end of the space.

The Panntea Klang project started in July 2019 and was completed in September 2019. The design team, led by Ken Thong and Emma Yap, conducted extensive research to create a unique and innovative ambiance for the cafe. The challenge of unifying the spaces in both shop units while maintaining a sensible flow of space and concept was overcome through bold new ideas and incorporating the brand identity into the design.

This revolutionary retail shop design has garnered recognition and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020. The design showcases the best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
