A visual representation of traditional Japanese Zen spirit and modern hotel functions, Another Japan Yamagata is a website that aims to convey the appeal of the Yamagata Prefecture in Japan. Designed by Tsutomu Tojo, this website combines the tranquility of Zen with the practicality of a hotel website.
The website features stunning images that showcase the beauty of Yamagata, allowing visitors to feel like they are traveling around the region. By immersing users in captivating visuals, the website creates a desire to visit the place in person.
One of the unique aspects of Another Japan Yamagata is its responsiveness. The website is designed to provide users with the best display according to their screen size, ensuring an optimal viewing experience on any device.
The project, which started in December 2016 in Yamagata, Japan, involved extensive research and interviews with foreign tourists to understand their interests and preferences. The insights gained from these interviews were then incorporated into the design, ensuring that the website resonates with its target audience.
One of the challenges faced during the project was supporting eight different languages. To overcome this, users in each country were surveyed, and their preferences were analyzed to find commonalities that could be reflected in the design.
Another Japan Yamagata was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Website and Web Design category in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity and ingenuity of the design, which authentically captures the essence of the Yamagata Prefecture and contributes to improving the quality of life for visitors.
By combining the traditional Zen spirit with modern hotel functions, Another Japan Yamagata successfully conveys the charm of the region and inspires a desire to explore Yamagata firsthand.
