Revolutionary GreenPlax Technology Turns Recycled Plastic Bottles into High-Performance Shoes

GreenPlax was born out of the urgent need to address the growing environmental crisis. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), human influence, particularly the emission of greenhouse gases, has been the dominant cause of global warming since the mid-20th century. Alarmingly, more than one million plastic bottles are discarded every minute worldwide, with less than 4% being properly recycled. The majority end up in landfills or the ocean, posing a significant threat to the environment and future generations.

Determined to protect the ecosystem and leave a healthier planet for future generations, Ccilu spent five years developing GreenPlax technology. The result is the first-ever footwear collection made primarily out of plastic bottles retrieved from the oceans. Every major component of the shoes, including the uppers, insoles, and outsoles, is made from recycled plastic bottles. On average, one pair of GreenPlax footwear consumes 15 recycled plastic bottles.

The production process involves several steps. First, the recycled plastic bottles are sorted, cleaned, and shredded into smaller pieces. These pieces are then broken down into perfectly shaped pellets, which are melted down to create fibers. These fibers are turned into threads, which are used to create the fabric for the upper part of the shoe and the lining covering the Ortholite insole. The remaining pellets are mixed with EVA to create a high-performance outsole.

GreenPlax is not just about sustainability; it's also about comfort and performance. Each pair of GreenPlax Renee footwear is bottomed-up with over 100 independent and highly resilient GreenPlax dots, thanks to the award-winning SKIVE-ON technology. This design offers super lightweight, barefoot comfort, flexibility, high resilience, and excellent grip.

GreenPlax has already earned recognition for its innovative approach to sustainability. The design was awarded Silver in the A' Footwear, Shoes, and Boots Design Award in 2020, a testament to its creative and professional excellence.
