Crave is not just another food application; it is a visual discovery engine that caters to the basic human question: what are you craving? With a minimalist design system and vibrant colors, Crave offers a seamless and engaging interface that inspires users to explore new recipes and restaurants. From the initial craving to the final moments of interaction, such as writing a review, Crave provides a cohesive and immersive user experience.
One of the unique features of Crave is its ability to consolidate the entire food ordering experience. From helping users determine where and what to eat through a chat-bot, to making table reservations, Crave ensures a hassle-free and enjoyable culinary adventure. Additionally, Crave goes beyond just food discovery; it also offers social networking features, allowing users to earn badges and improve their culinary skills.
The development of Crave involved a collaborative effort between design professionals based in San Francisco and Columbia. The team utilized tools like Figma, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator to design the interface, key frames, and prototypes. The submission video was produced using Adobe After Effects, with musical effects and composition developed by a sound engineer using FL Studio 12.
Extensive research was conducted to understand the needs and preferences of food enthusiasts. The team analyzed various food-related platforms, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each. They discovered that while convenience and efficiency were important factors, personalization was often lacking. Crave aims to fill this gap by celebrating individual stories and creating a personalized food application that caters to everyone's cravings.
Creating an application in the saturated food market presented its own challenges. The team had to understand user needs, prioritize features, and differentiate Crave from its competitors. Through unique color combinations, conversation design, and the ability to foster a community, Crave offers a fresh and engaging experience that stands out from the rest.
Crave was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. This recognition highlights Crave's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while providing a fulfilling and positive user experience.
