David Wave's Innovative Approach to Main Titles Design Earns Platinum A' Design Award

Wave's inspiration for the design came from a desire to create a title sequence that resembled a detective or investigation look, with a futuristic feel. He drew references from Mission Impossible opening titles and science fiction TV shows like Star Trek. The aim was to incorporate iconic elements that make Mac Gyver unique and iconic.

The unique properties of this design lie in its reimagining of the main title sequence. Wave and his team decided to create a sequence in one long shot generated in 3D, aiming to bring the viewer into Mac Gyver's unique creative process. This approach offers a journey into Mac Gyver's mind, setting it apart from other title sequences.

The design was realized using digital 3D techniques in Cinema 4D, simulations in Houdini, and rendered in Octane. The technical specifications of the design are 1920 x 1080px at 24 frames per second. The design frames were provided by the Agency, and Wave's team brought it to life using 3D animation.

Produced in Marina del Rey, Los Angeles, the project started in October 2019 and was delivered in February 2020. It aired in the US on February 10th, 2020, and the show airs internationally and can be streamed on CBS.com.
