China's rich and profound bamboo weaving culture has inspired a unique design that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. Bingran Shen, a talented designer, has created a stunning piece of art called Geometric Bamboo Weaving. This design showcases the diversity and charm of Chinese traditional culture in a contemporary way.

Geometric Bamboo Weaving is a work of art that seamlessly integrates modern geometric animal outlines with the intricate patterns of Chinese bamboo weaving. The design features a steel frame and bamboo, which are meticulously cut, polished, and woven together by hand. The result is a visually striking piece that combines light, shadow, and geometric hollow structures to create a gorgeous light and shadow effect.

The design team, consisting of Bingran Shen, YuSen Geng, XuanQi Yan, Mengxin Hao, and Baohui Cheng, meticulously constructed the geometric frame, transforming a two-dimensional image into a three-dimensional structure. Each rebar bracket had to be adjusted repeatedly in space to achieve the desired effect. The bamboo weave pattern was also carefully redesigned and conceived to ensure a harmonious fusion of traditional and modern elements.

Geometric Bamboo Weaving is not only visually captivating but also interactive. The design incorporates lighting elements that can be manually turned on to illuminate the piece, enhancing the play of light and shadow. This adds an extra layer of dynamism and engagement to the overall experience.

The design project took place at Zhengzhou University of Light Industry from November 10, 2019, to December 10, 2019. Throughout the process, the team conducted extensive research on the texture patterns of Chinese bamboo weaving and the techniques of adding work to bamboo. This research, combined with their creative and technical expertise, allowed them to overcome various challenges and bring their vision to life.

Geometric Bamboo Weaving has garnered recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation Design category in 2020. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exhibit exceptional creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. Geometric Bamboo Weaving stands as a testament to the fusion of art, science, design, and technology, contributing to the improvement of our quality of life.
