Elegant Earrings Inspired by Art Nouveau

The Dancing Gerberas earrings are a result of Eliana Palomo's experimentation with unusual angles and forms. The intention behind the design is to reflect the moment when flowers start to dry and release their fragrance, conveying a sense of freshness and femininity. Unlike her usual process of sketching on paper, Palomo was inspired to play with wax by hand, creating a three-dimensional representation of her vision.

What sets the Dancing Gerberas earrings apart is their unique properties and design elements. The gerbera flowers symbolize beauty and purity, and the earrings capture this essence. The forms are based on the patterns found in art nouveau architecture, showcasing nature's organic shapes. The earrings are made using a hand wax modeling technique, followed by casting in silver to create a master mold. The final design is carefully polished by hand and finished with a gold plate to differentiate the color of the flower and stem, adding a touch of realism. The movement of the stones adds freshness and dynamism to the design.

The realization of the Dancing Gerberas earrings involves a meticulous process. After Palomo hand-carves the design in wax, it is sent to a workshop in Yucatan, Mexico, where it is cast in sterling silver and polished by skilled jewelers. The earrings are then plated with 18 karat gold to achieve the desired color. Finally, Palomo adds drops of faceted garnets with gold-filled wire by hand, completing the intricate design.

With dimensions of 40mm in width and 70mm in height, the Dancing Gerberas earrings make a statement. They are versatile, timeless, and elegant, perfect for special occasions. The design project started in March 2017 in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, and was completed in August 2017 in the same city.

Eliana Palomo's creative process for the Dancing Gerberas earrings involved extensive research on art nouveau, drawing inspiration from the architecture, fashion, and patterns of the movement.
