TAVAT Eyewear SoupCan: An Innovative Design with New Construction

A Modern Take on Eyewear Manufacturing

TAVAT Eyewear launches new collection: SoupCan, an Innovative Design with New Construction.

Inspired by a group of Crop-Dusters from the 1930s who used soup cans to make their makeshift goggles, TAVAT Eyewear introduces SoupCan, a modern-day version that revolutionizes eyewear manufacturing. The collection showcases a new approach, featuring several coined, hand-formed pieces that are meticulously assembled to create unique eye shapes. With high-quality watch crowns for opening and closing, SoupCan is not only functional but also fashionable.

The SoupCan collection stands out with its distinctive details and craftsmanship. Each frame is constructed using a "sandwich" technique, resulting in a truly unique design. The frames boast ultra-scratched surfaces that are hand-finished, adding a touch of artistry to the eyewear. Additionally, the collection offers two versions: one with an all-metal finish and another that combines acetate and metal for a contemporary look.

What sets SoupCan apart is the innovative manufacturing process. Unlike traditional frames that are cut from flat surfaces, SoupCan frames are meticulously crafted from multiple parts. Each piece has its own unique mold, carefully developed to create the desired eye shape. The frames are made from alpaca, ensuring durability and a lightweight feel. The collection includes two variations: all-metal frames and frames with acetate eye rims.

With its unique design and attention to detail, SoupCan offers a fresh perspective on eyewear. It combines bold industrial aesthetics with functionality, making it a standout choice for both sunglasses and optical frames. The frames have been designed with opticians in mind, ensuring ease of dispensing for end-users.

The SoupCan collection was a result of years of research and development. TAVAT Eyewear faced numerous challenges in finding manufacturers who shared their vision and dedication. After visiting factories across Italy and Japan, they finally found the right project manager and a small manufacturer in Italy who could bring their designs to life. The frames underwent rigorous testing to ensure they meet industry standards and are certified.

TAVAT Eyewear's SoupCan collection was first conceptualized in November 2000 in Pasadena, California. The designs were meticulously refined over the years, and the first collection was completed in March 2015 in Cavaso del Tomba, Italy. The collection made its debut at MIDO in March 2015, showcasing its unique blend of art, design, and technology.

The SoupCan collection has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2016. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With its bold design, impeccable craftsmanship, and innovative manufacturing process, TAVAT Eyewear's SoupCan collection is a testament to the brand's commitment to pushing boundaries in the world of eyewear.
