The inspiration for Atsui came from the global trend of renovating obsolete spaces into new, experimental ones. São Paulo, a city that often overlooks its historic buildings, became the perfect canvas for this project. The designers aimed to address this issue, breathing new life into a deteriorated space and transforming it into a vibrant, award-winning restaurant.

What sets Atsui apart from the myriad of other Japanese restaurants in São Paulo is its unique industrial architecture. The design is a celebration of raw materials, with metal, glass, concrete, and brick exposed in their natural state. The restaurant's construction is a testament to the designers' technical prowess. The two-story building, with a metal and concrete structure, spans an area of 500.00 sqm. Despite the project's complexity, it was developed in just two months and constructed in five, showcasing the team's efficiency and dedication.

Atsui's innovative design has not gone unnoticed. In 2020, it was awarded Silver in the A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award. This prestigious accolade is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
