Oriental Zen: A Fashionable Reception Center

An Artistic Space Inspired by Garden Landscapes

The reception center takes the theme of "Fashionable Oriental Zen" and draws inspiration from garden landscapes. The designer worked with the original structure of the two-story building and used minimalistic design techniques to cleverly resolve the irregularities and structural restrictions that existed in the space, further transforming defects into advantages, and creating a transparent and open artistic space.

Ingeniously utilizing structure and landscape construction techniques, the Oriental Zen reception center achieves a Zen visual effect. Light and shadow are interwoven, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The addition of oriental elements such as a bamboo forest, lattices, works of calligraphy, and lotuses enhances the space's oriental-styled artistic ambiance. The green landscape is introduced into the interior from the outdoors, presenting a modern garden impression rich in Zen style.

The design team at Parn Shyr Design utilized a modern and fashionable palette of Zen-style materials to bring the concept to life. Black-color metal, darkened mirror glass, black-color crystal acetate, grey-color paint color, linear-pattern ebony, brown-color sandblasted glass, striped and monochrome carpet, linear-striped wallpaper, and snow-white-color marble were carefully selected to complement each other and create a harmonious environment. These materials are not only aesthetically pleasing but also non-toxic and environmentally friendly, aligning with the principles of green building.

The reception center's technical specifications showcase the attention to detail and thoughtful design choices. The first floor features a concealed structural column with a painted black metallic finish that soars upward, symbolizing a tree-like form. The masonry floor extends throughout the space, creating a cohesive visual experience. The gents and ladies' bathrooms feature an ebony pattern that contrasts with the bar area, adding visual interest.

Through complementing raised vertical lines with landscape construction techniques, the interior spaces on every floor are interconnected, creating a bamboo-forest-like visual effect that stretches upward. Oriental elements such as a bamboo forest, lattices, and calligraphy works written in cursive script on the walls enhance the modern garden impression. The transparent glass at the reception desk area provides a vista that extends the view, while the metal tubing behind exhibits a tree-like symbolism.

The Oriental Zen reception center, located in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, is a testament to the designer's research and innovative approach. Sustainable metal building materials were utilized to create raised vertical lines, connecting every floor and adding a modern fashion element. The designer's in-depth understanding and application of green building principles and materials further contribute to the project's sustainability.

This exceptional design by Parn Shyr Design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2020. The award acknowledges the reception center's well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. By integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, the Oriental Zen reception center provides fulfillment and positive feelings, contributing to a better world.
