Furong Hui: A Modern and Elegant Residential Design

Creating a Unique Landmark Inspired by Hibiscus Flowers

To create a modern, elegant, and noble style residence, the design team at Parn Shyr Design Co., Ltd. drew inspiration from an ancient rhyme by Su Shi, "A thousand trees will turn yellow, but only Hibiscus remains its beauty." This analogy of the noble and unsullied nature of Hibiscus flowers served as the visual outline for the overall design of Furong Hui. The unique shape of the hibiscus flower is reflected in the design, with a projection lamp arranged at the bottom of the petals, projecting onto the curved line plate and continuous arch columns, creating a distinctive landmark during the night.

To meet the demands of different ages and promote a sense of connection and a rich life, the designers aimed to symbolize wealth, auspiciousness, happiness, and harmony by using the "hibiscus" as the core concept. They combined practicality with design aesthetics and art, utilizing various advanced materials to create a unique new classical design that balances both hardness and softness.

The first floor of Furong Hui features an elevator hall and mailboxes adorned with bright cloud ornaments on the upper beams. A high irregular white tile cliff is raised beside it, creating a striking visual element. The Lounge bar of the royal Brunch cafe is decorated with artistic flowers in bright colors and lines, adding vibrancy to the space. The black glass wall and double channel warm water pool entrance lead to straight bars that extend upward to the ceiling, forming an irregular wave pattern. The bottom of the pool is adorned with shades of blue mosaic, creating a gently beautiful curve spray and enhancing the sense of a SPA massage pool.

The indoor public spaces of Furong Hui are designed with the concept of an art exhibition, skillfully utilizing seemingly unimportant corners to create multiple sensory experiences. The elevator and mailbox areas, multiple lines of banquet halls, and corridor arches are balanced to create a visually layered space. Each block complements the others, resulting in a rich cultural atmosphere and a sense of harmony.

The Royal Brunch cafe features a multilayered white lines ceiling with large stereo carvings of lotus flowers, creating a sense of individuality. Circular elements, such as rattan, are forged into the three entrances, and a dark horse is placed strategically. The black glass metope of the small round table and bar adds a touch of elegance to the space.

The Furong Hui project started in March 2017 in Taipei City, Taiwan. The design team conducted extensive research, starting from the concept of an art exhibition hall. The goal was to integrate aesthetics into the public setting, providing residents with spiritual and physical relaxation. The space includes a reception hall, master's kitchen, lounge bar, warm water swimming pool, SPA, multi-function audio-visual room, billiard room, golf swing area, rhythm yoga class, male/female gym, and yoga room. Each space is designed with comprehensive function planning, creating a rich cultural atmosphere and a life filled with features.

One of the challenges in designing Furong Hui was to avoid a burdensome and complex visual appearance while still capturing the rich aesthetic concept. The design team employed reduction techniques, focusing on rational lines and drawing the outline of the lotus flower in a beautiful and sensible manner. Warm and elegant colors, diverse materials, and a balanced overall tone were used to create a sense of nobility.

Furong Hui is a testament to the creativity and technical prowess of the design team at Parn Shyr Design Co., Ltd. Inspired by the image of the anti-frost Hibiscus flower in Su Shi's ancient poem, the design team utilized the advantages of a conventional single square building and designed it with continuous columns on the same base, creating an appearance of layered flower petals. Located on the top of the building, the blooming Hibiscus flower is visible at a glance. The project combines practicality, design aesthetics, and art, using various advanced materials to bring the neoclassical design vocabulary to life.
