Roble: A Stellar Fusion of Design and Dining

Designers Peyman Kiani and Parisa Biriya Craft an Award-Winning Restaurant Experience

Roble, an American-style restaurant in Tehran, is a testament to the power of design in shaping dining experiences. The brainchild of designers Peyman Kiani and Parisa Biriya, Roble has been recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.

The restaurant's design was inspired by American steak and smokehouses, with a focus on wood, leather, and metal in relatively dark colors. The space is imbued with a sense of luxury through the use of gold and rose gold accents, warm lighting, and a color palette of green and black. The designers' intention was to create a space that could easily fit into any city, from Los Angeles to Dubai, and be accepted and enjoyed by people of any culture or background.

What sets Roble apart is its unique placement on the roof of a famous commercial complex in northern Tehran. The restaurant's roof is made of movable ceiling-fabric, allowing customers to enjoy sunlight during the day and the stars at night. This innovative design feature, combined with the restaurant's stunning views of Tehran, creates a dining experience that is truly one-of-a-kind.

The restaurant's interior is a masterclass in thoughtful design. The main hall floor is a combination of ceramic slabs of different sizes and brass ingots, while the VIP floor features handmade ceramic. The large chandeliers are made of anodized steel bubbles, and the bar counter is made of two types of jade stone, transparent patterned ceramic, black walnut lumber, brass ingot, and iron profile and plate.

Every element in the restaurant, from the VIP ceramics to the furniture, is customized or handmade, creating a cohesive and pleasing atmosphere. The design team's attention to detail is evident in the restaurant's unique identity and integrated design. The restaurant's design is not just aesthetically pleasing, but also functional, with a large deck built to accommodate all customers and provide them with a unique view of Tehran.

Roble's design is a testament to the power of research and innovation in design. The designers' research into American steak houses and smokehouses informed the restaurant's design, resulting in a space that is both authentic and unique. The design process was not without its challenges, but the end result is a space that is enjoyed by locals and international guests alike, including diplomats and ministers from other countries.

In conclusion, Roble is a shining example of how design can enhance and elevate a dining experience. The restaurant's unique design features, combined with its stunning location and thoughtful attention to detail, make it a deserving recipient of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award. It serves as a reminder of the power of design in shaping our experiences and the world around us.
