Hoverboard Inbase: Revolutionizing Ambulance Transportation

A Unique Solution for Patient Comfort and Safety

Hoverboard Inbase is a groundbreaking design by Gerhard Maier - Hoverboard GmbH. that aims to revolutionize ambulance transportation by providing a unique airsuspended stretcher support with integrated pneumatic height adjustment and lateral movement device. This innovative design prioritizes patient comfort and safety, addressing the challenges faced during transportation.

The inspiration for Hoverboard Inbase came from the realization that patients worldwide suffer additional pain from road bumps while being transported in ambulances. This not only causes discomfort but also leads to increased medical expenses due to the aggravation of their injuries during the ride. To address this issue, Hoverboard Inbase features an efficient air suspension system that absorbs up to 80 percent of the incoming acceleration from uneven roads, providing a smooth and comfortable ride for patients.

One of the unique properties of Hoverboard Inbase is its ability to insulate patients from impacts through its patient air suspension system. This system is automatic and self-adjusting, adapting to the patient's weight to ensure optimal comfort and support. Additionally, the design includes a pneumatic height adjustment and lateral movement device, offering a new dimension in protecting patients and medical staff in ambulances.

The realization of Hoverboard Inbase involves the use of premium materials such as stainless steel 1.4301, ensuring durability and stability. The design incorporates laser cutting and robot welding techniques to achieve precision and quality in its construction.

Hoverboard Inbase has specific technical specifications, with dimensions of L2183 x W606 x H155 mm and a weight of 126 kg. These specifications are carefully chosen to meet the requirements of function, stability, and ease of handling.

The operation of Hoverboard Inbase is simple and user-friendly. When a patient is placed on the stretcher, the Hoverboard automatically adjusts to their weight and lifts gently to the optimal riding level for maximum comfort. Loading and unloading are made easy as the Hoverboard lowers automatically when the stretcher is unlocked. This eliminates the need for manual lifting, reducing strain on medical staff.

The design also includes a pneumatic lateral movement device, allowing the Hoverboard to move sideways in eight different positions, each 32 mm apart. This feature provides flexibility and convenience during transportation. In situations where a rigid position is required, such as during reanimation, the Hoverboard can be quickly lowered to the lowest position or raised to the highest position with the press of a button.

Hoverboard Inbase underwent extensive research and testing in the field of emergency medicine. The objective was to protect patients during transport and improve ergonomics for physicians and paramedics. Through lab experiments and field test runs with various ambulances, it was found that patients experienced less aggravation of their injuries and medical staff could work in an upright posture, reducing strain on their spines.

Hoverboard Inbase overcame several challenges to meet the required standards. It successfully passed the rigorous testing conducted by DEKRA Germany, demonstrating its ability to withstand up to 20g according to EN 1789 and ECE R17 standards.

Hoverboard Inbase, with its unique design and focus on patient comfort and safety, has garnered recognition in the industry. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Hoverboard Inbase stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.

Hoverboard Inbase is a testament to the commitment of Gerhard Maier - Hoverboard GmbH. to create designs that prioritize the well-being of patients and medical staff. With its revolutionary features and attention to detail, Hoverboard Inbase is set to transform the landscape of ambulance transportation, providing a safer and more comfortable experience for patients worldwide.
