The Breath Condenser, a product of meticulous research and innovative design, stands out for its unique properties. The designers' exploration into uncharted territories led to the creation of this diagnostic product that not only caters to the needs of the veterinary field but also opens new doors for scientific exploration. The product's benefits extend to various sectors, including horse racing, farming, military cavalry, and science, making it a versatile and valuable tool.
The Breath Condenser is manufactured using polymer injection, with polypropylene as the primary material. The product comprises two main structures, a standard frozen gel, a standard microtube for sample collection, a breather valve, and a plastic refill for isolation and contamination prevention. With a width of 85mm, a height of 210mm, a depth of 115mm, and a weight of 400 grams, the Breath Condenser is designed for ease of use and efficiency.
The operation of the Breath Condenser is as ingenious as its design. As an animal breathes, the inhaled gases pass through the organism, carrying information from the entire body. The condensation chamber of the product cools the hot air exhaled by one nostril, transforming it into liquid drops that slip into the microtube. This non-invasive, fast, clean, and cheap diagnosis method enables the reading of these vital informations.
The Breath Condenser is the result of a seven-month-long graduation project by Cleber Niels and Rodrigo de Freitas Wolf, which commenced in April 2010 and concluded in November 2010 in Curitiba city, Brazil. The project was driven by the increasing investments in animal health products and the need for better diagnostic methods, especially for competition horses that often suffer from respiratory system problems.
The design of the Breath Condenser faced several challenges, including the integration of design in new areas and the requirement for specific technical information. Despite these hurdles, the designers successfully created a product that holds the potential to bring significant benefits to veterinary medicine. Their efforts were recognized when the Breath Condenser was awarded the Iron A' Medical Devices and Medical Equipment Design Award in 2012, a testament to its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.
