Creating an Inclusive Wayfinding Solution for County Hospital

The inspiration for this project stemmed from the hospital's patients' needs for clear and accessible information. Sobocinska-Kiss meticulously analyzed each development stage, ensuring compatibility with the principles of universal design. The result is a wayfinding system that caters to people with reduced functionality and special needs.

What sets Waycludi apart is its commitment to the seven principles of universal design. This approach ensures that the system is useful for everyone, regardless of their abilities. The realization of the Waycludi system relied on the application of universal design principles. By considering the specific needs of the hospital's diverse patient population, Sobocinska-Kiss created a comprehensive solution that addresses the challenges of wayfinding in a healthcare setting.

The development of the Waycludi system took place in Pruszkow, Mazovian District, Poland, starting in January 2018 and concluding in February 2019. Throughout the project, extensive research was conducted to understand the needs of both patients and hospital staff. This research informed the design decisions and ensured that the final product met the requirements of its users.

One of the primary challenges faced during the project was striking a balance between legal requirements and creating a visually appealing design. Sobocinska-Kiss successfully navigated these obstacles, resulting in a signage system that not only complies with regulations but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the hospital environment.

The Waycludi signage system for County Hospital is a testament to the power of universal design. By incorporating the seven principles of universal design, Sobocinska-Kiss has created a solution that improves the quality of life for all patients, particularly those with special needs and reduced functionality.
