La Famille: A Tranquil and Hospitable Shelter for Three Generations

Award-winning Residence Designed by Jung Chi Hsu

Home is a living thing that hosts the love and memory along the path of life of its very own members, thus the appearance varies with its occupants. The designer blends all aspects of its main family members together in the public areas, while tailor the private areas according to each and every unique personality of the members living in it. This house is designed to serve as a root to the three-generation family, for the bonding and foster of their precious relationship.

In the public area of La Famille, the warmth of the wooden texture material neutralizes the cool tone of the white marble wall surface and the floor tiles of grayish shade. The symmetrical wooden volume structures provide a sense of spatial balance, reflecting the client's state of mind that life has finally found its stable anchorage. The dining area, furnished with wood texture, not only creates a warm atmosphere for family gatherings but also plays an important role in visually dividing the living room and the kitchen from the dining area itself.

The unique properties of La Famille lie in its harmonious blend of materials and textures. Japanese High Definition Printing board, melamine board, and modular cabinets form the foundation of the design. Artistic paint texture wallpaper and low formaldehyde wood add depth and character to the space. Natural stone materials are used to enhance the elegance and sophistication of the residence.

With an interior area of approximately 240 square meters spread across six floors, La Famille offers a spacious living room, a dining room and kitchen, a master bedroom, two bedrooms, two study rooms, and a walk-in closet. Each space is carefully designed to cater to the unique needs and preferences of the family members.

La Famille is not only visually appealing but also incorporates smart technology for convenience and energy efficiency. LED suspension lightings above the dining table and study room desks serve as both visual attractions and energy-saving solutions. The study room on the fourth floor features black glass doors for the bookcases, allowing visibility of the contents while maintaining a sleek and organized appearance.

Completed in December 2019 in Taichung, Taiwan, La Famille is a testament to the designer's meticulous attention to detail and creative problem-solving. Overcoming challenges such as precise placement of LED strip lights and concealing cables, the design seamlessly combines functionality and aesthetics.

La Famille has been recognized for its excellence in design, receiving the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This award is a testament to the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. La Famille stands as a symbol of a well-designed, practical, and innovative creation that contributes to a better world.
