Studio Ho's "Rationality and Sensibility": A New Aesthetic in Showroom Design

Winner of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017

Studio Ho's "Rationality and Sensibility" is a unique cucine showroom design that blends contemporary vogue with functional aesthetics. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, is a testament to the studio's innovative approach to space planning and material selection.

Studio Ho's design inspiration for "Rationality and Sensibility" was to construct a new aesthetic for contemporary life, akin to installation art. The entrance was designed to be bright and impressive, focusing on space planning rather than surplus materials. This approach emphasizes the brand's main value: contemporary vogue and functional aesthetics. As visitors walk around, they can find subtle connections between objects.

The unique properties of the design are evident as visitors enter along the glass wall and see an inclined plane wall standing in the middle of the space, dividing the main route into two ways. The stone wall is combined with the kitchen island, allowing for light projection on the shelf. The shifted fields delicately ensure that every product is undisturbed, and the ample room allows people to stroll along the show. Each independent site is placed to be seen, regarded as regular open space.

The realization technology of the design involved choosing materials from product elements. Steel was used to enhance the visual tension, like industrial design. The steel strings extended from the ground to the air elegantly, like a harp, bringing some romanticism into rationality. The texture of the black mirror appears differently when the environmental light changes, and its combination with products describes the products' own pithiness and technological aspects.

The design project, which spans 403 sqm, was located at 1F., No.525, Guangfu S. Rd., Da’an Dist., Taipei City 106, Taiwan (R.O.C.). The main challenge was to display older works alongside new products in a way that made them all appear new. The design had to give both types of products the chance to show their best look.

In conclusion, Studio Ho's "Rationality and Sensibility" is a unique cucine showroom design that successfully blends contemporary vogue with functional aesthetics. The design, which won the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2017, is a testament to the studio's innovative approach to space planning and material selection. It is a shining example of how design can transform a space and create a unique and engaging experience for visitors.
