Life Scenery: A Unique Private House Design by Ya-Yun Weng

Blending Nature and Functionality in a Delicate Affection

Functioned as a living space and work environment, the Life Scenery design by Ya-Yun Weng utilizes all the elements of a building located at a riverbank, including sunlight, air, and the natural conventions of water, to pour itself into space and assert the dominance of life. With its rhythm of lines and planes, destruction of striation, and focus on the five human senses, this design creates a delicate affection amidst delicate infection and humanity, constructing a residence that embodies vitality and flexibility of space.

For the inclusion of relevant attributes for work and life, the Life Scenery design analyzes relationships between the living room, dining room, and study room through materials, arrangement, and lights. Traditional definitions of the main wall and closet are banished, deepening the vision of viewers and streamlining the flow. The areal relation of the three different attributes, displayed through movable furniture design, achieves a golden ratio of space and weight balance.

In terms of realization, the Life Scenery design employs imported paints, seamless flooring, customized long tables made of old wood and other natural materials, imported lights, and imported mosaic. By perfectly combining spaces in large sizes with various materials, the designer creates a spatial atmosphere of elegance and vastness. Despite the limited space, the living room, dining room, and study room are arranged with dedication, allowing guests to have wonderful chilling moments and gather to enjoy the breeze and night view.

The indoor area of the Life Scenery design is approximately 66 square meters. With a limited budget, special paints are mostly employed instead of combinations of various materials. The design aims to extend the style of the entity through framed scenery from windows and the connection of cities. By neutralizing natural light and extending vision via medium hue tone, the design reduces areal media and connects a consistent atmosphere of space, displaying its beauty regardless of distances.

The Life Scenery design stands out with its emphasis on the vitality and flexibility of space, the use of color and natural materials, customized elements, and a break with tradition. It interacts with its surroundings by exclusively employing imported paints, seamless flooring, and customized long tables made of old wood and other natural materials. This design infects the delicate affection between the owner and humanity, creating a harmonious and inspiring living environment.

The Life Scenery design was completed in June 2020 in Tamsui, New Taipei City. The underlying research for this design focused on utilizing materials with natural tones to combine the house with sunlight and environmental features. Through lights, furniture, paintings, and decorations, the design creates memorable moments and displays different appearances and layers. The blend of environmentalism and lifestyle is redefined through minimalistic design terms and materials.

Despite creative, technical, and budget challenges, the Life Scenery design showcases the infinite creativity of the designer team. By highlighting colorful areas and providing customized paintings, the design enhances the variety of walls and creates visually accentuated spaces. The aesthetics of space are depicted through simple methods that pay respect to nature, highlighting golden ratios of geometry, lighting, and layers. Every corner of this space offers a unique view, displaying perfect structures under various ratios.

The Life Scenery design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, winning the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the category of Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
