While contemplating how to enhance the value of business cards as a means of communication, Sung Ho Nam identified a commonality between the individuals represented on the cards and endangered animals being overlooked. This led to the development of business cards based on endangered species, aiming to draw attention to these creatures and make the cards themselves more memorable.
Remember Me features images of 28 endangered species, each one a call to remember these creatures. The cards are designed so that the names of the individual and the endangered species are displayed simultaneously, with the word 'remember' inserted in front of these names as a reminder of the need for concern for both.
The cards are the same size as a regular business card, but their shape varies depending on the animal represented. They are printed with environmentally friendly soybean oil and are specially cut to be used as bookmarks. The back of each card is designed for writing small notes or letters, adding another layer of functionality and personalization.
The project, which started in November 2019 and finished in March 2020, was designed and produced in Seoul. The initial goal was to enhance business cards as a means of communication, but the idea evolved into a campaign to raise public awareness of endangered species. The challenge now is to justify the use of offline business cards in an increasingly digital world.
Remember Me has been recognized for its innovative approach, winning Silver in the A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2021. The award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and that evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
