City Forest: A Merging of Vitality and Mature Aesthetics

Residential Space Designed by Chien-Neng Chang

With warm light illuminating the space, the vitality of City Forest merges with the core concept of the design. The color-hopping objects decorate the space and bring out different layers, presenting a mature and stylish aesthetics.

The City Forest project, designed by Chien-Neng Chang, is a residential space that embodies a unique combination of maturity, youth, and brightness. The core concept of the interior design was inspired by the eligible bachelor who owns the house, resulting in a space that exudes sophistication and vitality.

The design of City Forest stands out due to its emphasis on eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices. The living room features eco-friendly decorative paint as the coating, while the cabinets in the master bedroom and parents' bedroom are made of EGGER wood-based panels, representing an environmentally friendly alternative. Additionally, non-timber forest products were used for the flooring, further enhancing the project's commitment to sustainability.

Spanning 128 square meters, City Forest showcases an open layout and transparent atmosphere, simplifying excessive decoration in the daily living space. The software with neat lines creates a clear and comfortable environment, evoking a warm and inviting feeling of home.

The design of City Forest also overcame several challenges to achieve its final form. The original entryway and dining room had low ceiling beams and excessive door planks, disrupting the flow of the space and creating a messy appearance. To address this, the designer installed a three-sided door frame at the entryway and selected textured wall panels as the material for sliding doors, unifying the appearance of the space.

City Forest was completed in October 2020 in Taichung, Taiwan. The project incorporates innovative technologies such as a dehumidifier with an intelligent dryness monitoring system, which helps balance humidity and achieve a more comfortable indoor temperature, reducing the need for air conditioning. The system cabinets and hardware are also designed to be disassembled and reassembled, promoting sustainability and minimizing waste.

City Forest has been recognized for its outstanding design and received the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. City Forest's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contribute to a better world.

City Forest is a testament to Chien-Neng Chang's talent and vision, showcasing a residential space that merges vitality and mature aesthetics while prioritizing sustainability and innovation.
