Multicolor Sky: A Unique Interior Design

Bringing Colors and Harmony to Life

The "Multicolor Sky" interior design, created by Yi-Lun Hsu, is a stunning example of how colors can transform a living space. Inspired by the homeowner's love for travel and vibrant hues, this design combines various shades of pink, cyan, and other cool tones to create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. With its unique properties and thoughtful realization, this design stands out as a true masterpiece.

Located in the heart of Hsinchu City, Taiwan, this 86-square-meter space presented several challenges to the designer. The main objective was to create a wide, transparent, and mixed public space, despite the limited size of the living room, dining room, and entrance area. To achieve this, the designer merged the kitchen with a bedroom, creating an open and functional layout.

The focal point of the design is the Island in the kitchen, which seamlessly connects the living room and study room. By using non-physical partitions such as low walls and grilles, each space retains its individuality while blending harmoniously with the others. This allows family members to engage in various activities, such as reading, cooking, dining, and audiovisual entertainment, while still being connected and interacting closely.

The entrance area plays a crucial role in setting the tone for the entire design. A pink gradient iron grille separates it from the living room, adding a touch of elegance and privacy. The hallway maintains its transparency while incorporating Feng Shui principles. A mirror expands the sense of space, and cyan hexagonal tiles shape the dust area. A white shoe cabinet, punch board, and shelf boards provide practical storage solutions.

One of the most striking features of the living room is the absence of a traditional TV wall. Instead, the designer opted for projectors and speakers to fulfill the family's audiovisual needs. The largest wall in the living room showcases a cyan and pink gradient wallpaper, complemented by an adjustable bookshelf. Each book and work of art on the shelf represents a cherished memory from the homeowner's travels.

The master bedroom exudes tranquility and relaxation. A purple-tone closet, light pink wallpaper, delicate golden wall lamp, and simple Nordic design bedside table create a restful atmosphere. The study desk seamlessly integrates into the traffic flow, featuring an oblique angle that echoes the Island in the kitchen. Additionally, a lift-up dressing table is cleverly hidden within the desk, catering to the needs of the female homeowner. The windowside couch serves as a storage space for larger items.

The "Multicolor Sky" design was completed in September 2020 and has garnered recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to industry standards.

Yi-Lun Hsu, along with Chiung-Fang Kang, successfully brought the homeowner's vision to life with the "Multicolor Sky" interior design. By skillfully incorporating vibrant colors, thoughtful spatial planning, and functional elements, they have created a space that is both visually stunning and highly functional. This design serves as an inspiration for those seeking to infuse their living spaces with creativity, harmony, and a touch of wanderlust.
