Leaves: A Club House Design Inspired by Nature

Kris Lin's Award-Winning Design Merges Natural Beauty with Innovative Lighting Technology

In the heart of Changsha, China, a unique club house design has emerged, inspired by the wind blowing through leaves. This innovative project, aptly named "Leaves," is the brainchild of renowned designer Kris Lin. The design, which has won the prestigious Golden A' Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Award in 2021, seeks to integrate the beauty of local massifs and structures into indoor spaces, creating a harmonious blend of nature and architecture.

The "Leaves" club house is located halfway up a mountain, offering breathtaking views and a serene environment. The most captivating feature of the club house is its lighting installation, which imitates the state of wind blowing leaves. This was achieved by custom-making LED lights in the shape of leaves, held by white painted aluminum steel cables that also act as conductors to make the leaves glow. The lighting control technology was the biggest challenge in this project, controlling the movement track and direction of the light of each leaf to create a realistic depiction of autumn wind blowing leaves.

The club house spans an area of 2000 square meters and features two floors. The first floor houses a reception lobby and recreation areas, including a swimming pool and gymnasium. The second floor serves as a leisure area with a book bar. The design respects Changsha's native landforms and cultural offerings, integrating them into the indoor spaces. The rolling ceiling of the former building was retained to mirror the wavy mountain landscape.

The project started in August 2019 and was completed in June 2020. The design team, led by Kris Lin and Anda Yang, faced the challenge of integrating the natural beauty of the location with innovative design and technology. The result is a club house that not only offers recreational facilities but also serves as a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and architecture.

The "Leaves" club house is a testament to Kris Lin's ability to draw inspiration from nature and translate it into a functional and aesthetically pleasing design. The design has been recognized for its uniqueness and innovation, winning the Golden A' Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Award in 2021. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.

In conclusion, the "Leaves" club house is a shining example of how design can be inspired by nature and enhanced with technology. It showcases the potential of design to create spaces that are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and in harmony with their surroundings. This project serves as an inspiration for future designs that seek to merge the beauty of nature with the innovation of technology.
