OMG Architecture's Futuristic Office Design Wins Silver A' Design Award

Combining Individuality and Collaboration in a High-Tech Space

OMG Architecture has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award for their innovative office design. The project, located on the 35th floor of Gubei SOHO, is a testament to the firm's commitment to creating spaces that foster interaction, efficiency, and a sense of community.

The design concept was inspired by the idea of combining "individual and independent thinking" with "collective and cooperation creating". The design team aimed to create a space that would stimulate creativity and innovation, using elements of light and shadow to give the space different visual characteristics. The use of smooth curves, hot bending glass, and creative design between arcs organically connects the structure and ceiling, creating a futuristic space capsule feel.

One of the unique features of the design is the use of stairs and hidden light strips to create the illusion of two conference rooms and two telephone booths floating in the air. This design language is consistently used throughout the office, including in the ceiling design. The office design promotes space interaction, improves work efficiency, and strengthens the interaction between people.

The design was realized with the mindset and culture of the company in mind, with the aim of creating a creative space that organically integrates work and living environment. The monochromatic office serves as the main color language, clearly highlighting the main paths. The space is divided into separate uses for separate entrances, with half the space designed as a public area and the other half as a working area.

The design process was not without its challenges. The team had to overcome issues related to the selection of refractive materials, lighting design, quality control of hot bending glass, optimization of smooth curves, and the process of creating the space capsule structure and ceiling. Despite these challenges, the team was able to create a design that not only meets the needs of the company but also inspires and motivates its employees.

The project was completed between September and December 2020 in Shanghai. The design team included Joe Zou (Project Manager), Piercarlo Torri, Arnold Su (Lead Architects), and Bingkai Sun (Project Member). The design has been lauded for its innovative approach to office design, earning it the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2021.
