Hill House: A Harmonious Blend of Design and Landscape

Edoardo Milesi - Archos srl's Award-Winning Private Residence

Edoardo Milesi - Archos srl, an acclaimed design team, has crafted the Hill House, a private residence that seamlessly integrates with its natural surroundings. The design, which won the Silver A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021, is a testament to the team's commitment to eco-sustainable design and innovative architectural solutions.

The Hill House is inspired by the landscape it inhabits. The natural course of the land played a significant role in the design's morphological and compositional choices. The house's structure, resting on slender metal pilotis, allows it to adapt to the varying heights of the terrain, preserving the authenticity of the landscape.

Two low-energy residential units make up the Hill House. These units, characterized by modularity, are designed to accommodate the morphology and topography of the site. This design is part of a broader project for the re-naturalisation of the green area on which they rest, demonstrating the team's commitment to eco-sustainability.

The construction of the Hill House is a testament to the use of natural and recyclable materials. The structural part is made of exposed colored concrete in textured paste, while larch wood left to natural oxidation and matt and pre-oxidized zinc-titanium sheet are also used. This low-energy "dry" type construction building aligns with the desire to live in a house in the green without wasting natural space.

The design of the Hill House is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The elevations, diversified by material composition and structural choices, are always in close relationship with the landscape and solar orientation. The glazed parts are suitably set back and shielded to avoid glare and reflections in the landscape, further enhancing the harmonious integration of the house into its surroundings.

The Hill House project started in April 2015 and was completed in October 2016. The construction began in Ponteranica, Bergamo, in December 2016, and finished in January 2018. The project's success is a testament to the design team's dedication and commitment to creating a design that is both innovative and respectful of its environment.

Edoardo Milesi - Archos srl's Hill House is a shining example of how design and nature can coexist harmoniously. The house's design, which takes quality and ecological commitment into high consideration, is a testament to the team's innovative approach to architecture and design. The Hill House is not just a private residence; it is a celebration of the natural landscape it inhabits, a testament to the power of eco-sustainable design, and a symbol of architectural innovation.
