House in Okolitsa: A Harmonious Blend of Architecture and Nature

Shamsudin Kerimov's Award-Winning Residential Design in Moscow

In the villa community of Okolitsa, Moscow, stands a unique residential building designed by Shamsudin Kerimov. The house, a rhythmic architecture that blends seamlessly with the surrounding forest, is a testament to Kerimov's innovative approach to design.

Shamsudin Kerimov, in collaboration with Ekaterina Kudinova, has created a residential building that stands out for its unique atrium structure. The design is inspired by the desire to erase the boundaries between the exterior and interior, integrating natural elements within the project to make the environment an integral part of the architecture. The atriums, punctuated by functional blocks of the building, create buffer zones that not only ensure the privacy of individual zones but also form interconnected relations between the landscape and architecture.

The house, with a total area of 1500 sq. m, is defined by the complex topography of the site. The architects have used hand-formed clinker bricks and roof tiles from Petersen, decking from Kebony, stone from Minera, and various types of metal, plaster, and paving stones to integrate the house into the environment. The use of these materials reflects the design's strength and unique features, setting it apart from other residential buildings.

The central entrance of the house leads to a large living room joint with a kitchen, a guest bedroom, and a workshop. The atriums separate the private zone on the first floors, which consists of the master bedroom, three children's rooms, a classroom, a playroom, and a library functioning as a stair hall, bathroom, changing room, and yoga class. The second floor houses a cabinet, a second master bedroom, and a SPA. The site also includes a facility for the staff, technical facilities, and a garage for three cars.

The project, which started in 2019, is still in progress. Despite this, the design has already gained recognition, winning the Silver A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation.

It is a testament to Shamsudin Kerimov's innovative approach to design, blending architecture and nature in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing manner.
