Interior Design Embracing the Charm of River and Mountains

A Unique Project by Yi-Lun Hsu and Chen-Chia Chang

Inspired by the beauty of nature, this interior design project seamlessly integrates the stunning river and mountain views into the living space. With a focus on creating a harmonious and serene atmosphere, the designers have successfully brought the outdoors inside.

Located in Zhubei City, Hsinchu County, this 248-square-meter residence offers a commanding view of the Touqian River and the central mountain range. The designers, Yi-Lun Hsu and Chen-Chia Chang, wanted to capture the essence of the surrounding landscape and incorporate it into the design.

The main axis of the house is a corridor that connects the entrance, living room, kitchen, dining room, study room, and bedroom. The designers have used restrained black, white, and gray tones along the corridor, creating a calm and elegant ambiance. The lighting, featuring barrier-free handrails, adds a touch of sophistication.

One of the key features of this design is the seamless connection between the interior and the river scenery outside. Standing on the balcony, residents can enjoy breathtaking views of the Touqian River merging into the sea, as well as the majestic central mountain range.

Upon entering the house, guests are greeted by a balcony adorned with tall trees. The shoe cabinet, the hidden door of the guest bathroom, and the entrance wall are covered with white stone grain tiles, highlighting the river scenery outside the window. The concave space at the border of the entrance and the living room features dark gray distressed texture tiles, creating a perfect backdrop for the altar table.

In terms of functionality, the designers have taken into consideration the needs of the residents. The kitchen, for example, is divided into separate areas for hot stir-frying and light meals and baking. The island area integrates built-in refrigerators and electrical equipment, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics. The island itself features a single-sided V-shaped table, defining both the seating and work areas.

To ensure a barrier-free environment, smart automatic doors have been installed in the kitchen, storage room, and bathroom of the parent's room. These doors are equipped with manual induction and anti-pinch devices, prioritizing convenience and safety for the users.

One of the design challenges was to maintain transparency and sound insulation. The glass frames were made of steel and glued glass, effectively reducing indoor audio frequency while maintaining a sleek and column-free design.

The interior design project by Yi-Lun Hsu and Chen-Chia Chang is a testament to their ability to seamlessly blend nature and architecture. By embracing the charm of the river and mountains, they have created a space that not only offers stunning views but also provides a serene and elegant living environment.
