Luna was conceived on the orders of Med Fanavaran Plus, a company that sought to create a cost-effective ultrasound system that could compete with global models while meeting the specific needs of Iranian society. The result is a device that is suitable for use in both large hospitals and small clinics, boasting a unique identity that aligns with the corporate image.
What sets Luna apart from other ultrasound systems is its user-centric design. The full-touch control panel allows for customization to fit up to five different users' specific needs. Moreover, the device's structure enables hardware upgrades without the need to replace the entire system. Each part can be maintained separately, minimizing disruption to the whole system. The probe holders can be shifted based on the intensity of probes usage, and the device is optimized to withstand shipping and environmental damages.
The realization of Luna's design is rooted in practicality and durability. Its internal metal structure strengthens the device and allows for cost and time-effective upgrades. Measuring 137cm * 67cm * 70cm, Luna is compact yet robust, designed to withstand the rigors of daily use in a medical setting.
Luna's interaction design is equally impressive. The device employs a deep-learning system, AI, and AR to enhance the efficiency of medical imaging systems. The full-touch control panel can be customized by changing the size and location of buttons or minimizing those that aren't required. The separatable transducer receptacles provide two options with two or four transducers based on the customer's order. The arm’s up/down mechanism enables height adjustment, and the silicon probe-holders cups allow for easy cleaning.
The design process of Luna was a collaborative effort that began in January 2020 in Tehran and concluded in November 2020. The team engaged users in various activities during the process of information gathering, creation, research, design, and evaluation. This participatory design process, coupled with a product feedback cycle, played a crucial role in refining Luna's design to achieve the best possible solution.
Luna's design is a testament to the power of innovation and user-centric design. Its unique features, coupled with its practical and durable design, make it a standout in the field of medical imaging. Luna is not just an ultrasound device; it's a symbol of the future of medical technology.
