This project holds a special place for Polin Kuyumciyan, as it was designed for the designer's own wedding. The couple tied the knot in August 2021, giving the designer the opportunity to make all the design decisions for their special day. The wedding packet started with the physical invitation, followed by the digital invitation design. The rest of the project included the menu, table cards, Photobooth exterior and photo frames, bottle tags, photograph envelopes, and cocktail menu. Each item was carefully designed in green and beige tones, adorned with large palm leaves and pampas to match the overall decoration theme.
The main focus of this project was the invitation, which set the tone for the entire wedding packet. The weight and color of the paper were carefully chosen to complement the design. Due to time and material constraints, some adjustments had to be made during production. The original plan was to have a dark green invitation envelope with embossed wedding date numbers. However, the shortage of time and materials led to a change in the print process. A beige colored paper was used instead, and the letters and numbers were varnished to ensure timely delivery without compromising on quality.
Technical specifications varied for each item in the wedding packet. The invitations measured 98 x 255 mm, menus were 100 x 220 mm, the cocktail list was 210 x 297 mm, Photobooth frames were 100 x 150 mm, table number cards were 105 x 148 mm, mini bottle tags were 25 x 35 mm, and photograph envelopes were 233 x 166 mm.
The wedding packet design is not only visually appealing but also interactive. The physical invitation comes within an envelope, and the receiver has to slide the paper vertically upward to reveal the wedding details. The front face of the paper features the formal invitation in Armenian and Turkish, while the back side lists all the events in time order, represented by fun icons.
Polin Kuyumciyan embarked on this design project in June 2021 in Istanbul and completed it in July 2021. The design process began with the search for a venue, followed by the adaptation of the invitation design to fit both print and digital mediums. The challenges of maintaining balance and synchronicity among all the items in the wedding packet were overcome with careful decision-making and attention to detail.
This exceptional wedding packet design by Polin Kuyumciyan has received recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2022. This prestigious award celebrates well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The wedding packet design stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world through its fulfillment and positive impact.
