Blossom House: Redesigning a Luxury Urban Resort Hotel

Transforming Zhongshan Mountain National Park into a Diversified Cultural Experience

The landscape redesign and improvement of Blossom House, a luxury urban resort hotel nestled in Zhongshan Mountain National Park, has breathed new life into the once neglected area. Shanghai Beyong Design, the creative force behind this project, has successfully upgraded the hotel from a mere accommodation facility to a destination that offers diverse spiritual and cultural experiences.

The inspiration for Blossom House came from the fabrics and material language of the old city wall built in the Ming Dynasty. This historical reference adds a touch of authenticity and charm to the design. Additionally, the elevation difference of the mountain landform was cleverly utilized to retain key vegetation within the site, creating a harmonious blend of nature and architecture.

The design also introduced a waterscape from the nearby lake, seamlessly connecting functional spaces such as the entrance, greeting area, and experiential area. Organic platforms were strategically incorporated to extend interior spaces outward, providing socializing functions and enhancing the overall guest experience.

When it comes to the realization of the design, sustainability and environmental consciousness were key considerations. The hard pavement coverage was minimized, and permeable materials were used to promote water drainage and reduce the heat island effect. The infinite swimming pool, equipped with a misting system, not only supports outdoor activities but also increases humidity around plants, creating a better natural habitat.

The project meticulously retained existing trees and shrubs on the site while introducing 74 varieties of ground cover and aquatic plants to enhance biodiversity. This commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural environment sets Blossom House apart from other luxury resorts.

The design process for Blossom House was a collaborative effort, with the design team working closely with architects, interior designers, and MEP professionals. Through precise design control and multiple rounds of review, the design scheme was flawlessly executed, resulting in a seamless integration of landscape and overall hotel design.

The entire project, from the initial design phase to construction and maintenance, spanned over two years. The design team conducted extensive on-site surveys and investigations to gather data and ensure a thorough understanding of the site's characteristics. Challenges such as growing plants in the hot summer were overcome with measures like sun shading and nutrition dripping, ensuring the survival of the greenery.

Nanjing, known as the ancient capital of six dynasties, provided the perfect backdrop for Blossom House. Located within Zhongshan Mountain National Park, the resort seamlessly integrates with the natural landscapes and reflects the style of China's Republican Period. This integration of local culture, history, and natural beauty creates a destination that offers a unique and enriching vacation experience.

Blossom House's exceptional design and commitment to quality have been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and a dedication to improving quality of life. Shanghai Beyong Design's innovative approach and attention to detail have truly made Blossom House a standout in the world of luxury urban resort hotels.
