Open Air: Redesigning Hope through Action

Unleashing the Power of Corporate Identity

With the world closing down, designers Ana Fatia and Sofia Silva found a way to defy the absence of creation and sharing. Open Air, their latest project, is a graphical identity and visual expression of a video mapping combined with a vertical acrobatic dance show. This unique design aims to awaken connections and sensations through abstract shapes, dynamic compositions, and immersive illusions.

Open Air stands out from other designs in its genre due to its disruptive and nomadic nature. The language of fragments used in this design is dissonant, heterogeneous, and transversal, creating a surreal and unstoppable visual experience. The lines and compositions seamlessly transform themselves into an immersive illusion, blurring the boundaries between 2D and 3D drawings.

The realization of Open Air posed several challenges for the designers. The combination of 3D elements, video mapping, and vertical dancing required precise technical specifications. Working with different components at a formal level, such as textures, shadows, and reflections, demanded meticulous attention to detail. However, Ana Fatia and Sofia Silva successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a visually stunning and technically impressive design.

The design specifications for Open Air include various print materials, such as posters of different sizes, invitations, event badges, and T-shirts. These elements contribute to the overall experience and serve as a tangible representation of the design's identity.

Open Air's interaction with the audience is characterized by empathy, mystery, and information. The design creates a connection among colors and movements, evoking a sense of intrigue and wonder. The audience experiences a dynamic journey, gradually uncovering the secrets embedded within the performance.

The project, which started in February 2021 in Lisbon and concluded in August, was showcased to the public in September at Estremoz. Throughout the design process, Ana Fatia and Sofia Silva conducted extensive research, exploring different art forms and seeking to inspire hope and transformation.

Open Air has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade celebrates designs that exhibit technical and creative excellence while contributing to improvements in quality of life.

Open Air is a testament to the power of design to redefine hope and inspire action. Through its unique visual expression and immersive experience, it invites audiences to embrace the transformative potential of art, technology, and human connection.
