Luoyue: A Resort Hotel Merging Local Culture and Innovation

Gao Hui's Award-Winning Design Transforms Hailing Island's Hospitality Scene

The design of Luoyue stands out for its unique properties. The hotel lobby space adopts a wavy grain imitation wood grain film that simulates the form of sea water. This not only prevents the corrosion of the local humid climate on the decorative surface but also creates a warm and delicate effect. The wave-shaped resin transparent lamp on the ceiling of the lobby further emphasizes the local culture, providing a profound experience for guests.

The materials used in the construction of Luoyue were carefully selected to withstand the island's humid climate, high salinity, and high alkalinity. These include anti-corrosion imitation wood grain film, handmade brick, flexible stone, craft glass, marble, plastic rattan, and resin board. The project area spans 3000 square meters, offering ample space for guests to explore and relax.

One of the key challenges in designing Luoyue was managing the peak flow of people during check-in and check-out times. To address this, the hotel lobby was designed with two island rest areas, a one-line reception desk, and self-service check-in and check-out procedures. The restaurant space design uses a shear wall with dense original buildings to create a highly rhythmic ceiling, reducing the pressure of the shear wall.

The design process for Luoyue was comprehensive and meticulous, involving design survey collection inspiration, conception concept, concept deepening, scheme deepening, construction drawing production, construction follow-up, and project completion. The project was launched in Hailing Island in March 2020, completed in May 2021, and opened in June 2021.

Luoyue's unique design and innovative approach to hospitality have not gone unnoticed. The resort hotel was awarded Silver in A' Hospitality, Recreation, Travel and Tourism Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
