The concept behind Pulse is to transform emotions into light signals. The installation features an LED strip that synchronizes with specially created background music. As the main lighting installation for the new immigrants theme, Pulse aims to visualize the emotional journey experienced by individuals entering a new realm.
The structure of Pulse is a testament to the designers' creativity and technical prowess. Steel tubes of varying diameters are strategically arranged to bear the structural loads. Each steel tube is adorned with a fiber mesh that connects the top ring and the bottom waved structure. The LED light strip and the bottom steel structure are digitally controlled to synchronize with the background sounds, creating a harmonious fusion of light and music.
With dimensions of 7 meters in width, 7.8 meters in depth, and 5.8 meters in height, Pulse commands attention with its imposing presence. However, it is the interplay of light and sound that truly brings the installation to life. At sunset, the pavilion illuminates, and the LED light strip changes colors as the background sound begins. Every thirty minutes, a three-minute lighting show unfolds, expressing the emotional state of new immigrants.
The creation of Pulse was not without its challenges. The integration of digital lighting with a physical steel structure required meticulous coordination between lighting scenarios and structural design. However, the designers successfully overcame these obstacles, resulting in a captivating and seamless fusion of art and technology.
Pulse has garnered recognition for its innovative design and creative ingenuity. In 2022, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fine Arts and Art Installation category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exemplify outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Pulse stands as a testament to the designers' technical and creative skills, contributing to the enhancement of quality of life and making the world a better place.
Experience the mesmerizing beauty of Pulse and immerse yourself in the emotional journey of new immigrants. Witness how art and technology intertwine to create a captivating and thought-provoking installation that transcends boundaries and speaks to the human experience.
