Yung Zing Tung: A Copper Culture Gallery by Salone Del Salon

Exploring the Aesthetic Potential of Copper in Architectural Design

Salone Del Salon's latest project, Yung Zing Tung, is a Copper Culture Gallery that pushes the boundaries of architectural design and residential philosophy. This award-winning design is a testament to the designer's innovative approach and the aesthetic potential of copper.

Yung Zing Tung, a Copper Culture Gallery, is the brainchild of Salone Del Salon. The design is inspired by architectural forms and residential philosophy, raising the concept of spatial form to the core idea and returning to the essence of space language. The designer's approach to the exhibited area is extreme, ensuring that the products on display are always the protagonist of the space.

What sets Yung Zing Tung apart from other designs is its core branding, which incorporates product demonstration, culture impression, and brand image. The design's vast openness and extreme simplicity ensure that the subjects on display grasp your attention at the first glance. The traffic flow design, intertwined with dimensional copper elements, resembles an art festive, making traces of craftsmanship and aesthetic appreciation obvious.

The realization of Yung Zing Tung involved setting up brass materials directly outside to show the bold design. The unrestrained release and restraint of openness create a tortuous path that awakens the viewer's desire for exploration. During the daytime, the natural light is enough in the space, especially highlighting the true texture of the metal. At night, the light and shadow make the copper stand out, clearly showing the space.

The project area of Yung Zing Tung is 470.5 square meters, making it a sizable exhibition hall. The design team, led by chief designer Salone, included Zheng Weibang, Li Lingfeng, Yue Qunyang, Zhao Tianyi, Song Yike, Yang Jing, Yang Chaojie, and Liang Xue. The project was completed in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, China, in July 2021.

The design research for Yung Zing Tung involved moving from simple display to showcasing the multi-dimensional traits of the display. The space comes with a sense of luxury yet low-key style. The multi-faceted plasticity of copper, married with the brand's unlimited potential, allowed the designer to explore the potential of aesthetic expression. All these are exhibited in the tangible display concretely.

The biggest challenge in realizing Yung Zing Tung was how to highlight products, make the spatial design center around products, enable products to endow the space with a sense of artistry, and let products and space complement each other. It was also challenging to present the spatial concept of "less is more" as well as rich spatial emotion, instead of boredom or lack of variety. Despite these challenges, the design team was able to create an exhibition space between people and brands that aims to give the viewers a place to explore unbounded, infinite, and selflessness statement in deep immersion and contemplation, movement, and imagination freely.

Yung Zing Tung was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
